CREATION PROCESS
While all of our products are hand painted, the carved work shown on some pieces represents the ancient Chinese art form called Coromandel. It is the carving of clay over wood, hand painting with an oil base paint and using several layers of lacquer as finish. It is this finish which protects the art work and gives our product its very shiny look.
Layering clay, gypsum powder and paint over and over again produces embossed pieces, which feel raised. This is done until the correct height of the embossing work is achieved. The rest is talent and inspiration.
